Upcoming events at UUCSB & beyond
Share the Plate! Summer 2026
Each month, UUCSB chooses an organization to split weekly donations made by congregants during the course of Sunday services. As many of you attend virtually, we are providing an online venue for these donations.
For the summer months, we ask for donations to be split between UUCSB's general fund and The Equality Community Center. From their website:
The Equality Community Center is a collaborative workplace for LGBTQ+ and allied social justice seeking non-profit organizations.
We strive to provide a safer and more inclusive gathering space with social and educational programming for all, while supporting the most marginalized in our communities.

Circle Dinner Evening
What are Circle Suppers? They are small (6+) potluck dinners, held in members’ homes, which bring friends, newcomers, and members of our congregation together to share food and get acquainted. These dinners are a good way to bring people closer, to get to know people in ways that we cannot on Sunday mornings or at committee meetings, and to get a mix of diKerent people than we might normally encounter.

Meet, Greet & Ask: Community Forum with your "Let's Try It!" Board
Your elected Board of Trustees has been hard at work since July. We have been learning a great deal about leadership and we would like to share some of that with you through several after-worship conversations.
In May, we will be discussing the Church Budget and how it works.
We hope that many of you can attend. We will share the information in other ways for those of you who can't make it.

Community Forum: Mission & Communication
Congregational Forum #2: Mission and Communication
Mission Statement
An effective mission statement is used to guide decision making and communicate who we are. Mission statements can and should evolve over time, and updating ours has been on the agenda for years. We have collected input for the last 1-1/2 years. A team of Board Members examined the input and formed a team which prepared this statement:
We are a welcoming spiritual home.
We serve our community and our world with Love
and act boldly for Justice and Peace.
We discussed it in a forum a few weeks ago gathered feedback. You are invited to continue to reflect on this statement. Our aim is to vote on a version that is "Safe enough to try and good enough for now," knowing we can continue the process as we try it out in the coming months
Our hope is to move forward with this statement after a vote at June's Annual Meeting. We would use it to move us into what comes next, like next year’s bicentennial celebration! This will be posted on a bulletin board, in the Messenger and in the bulletins for you to review. To share your thoughts about it, please send an email to rantho2000@gmail.com. We can also discuss it at the forum on Sunday.
All are welcome!
Saco/Biddeford Kit Making for the Unhoused
The immediate needs are for camping equipment. And the need is right now. Biddeford issued an eviction to folks camped out near town, and so they are being moved and losing all of their belongings and thus seeking encampment elsewhere. For the next month the pressing needs are:
tents,
sleeping matts
sleeping bags
tarps
cooking stoves and gas
flashlights and batteries

School Street Coffeehouse with the Yoga Ti Band
Musician Ben Parker, “The Yoga Ti Band was a concept that came from a dream I had perhaps 15 years ago in Peekskill, NY. In it, I was traveling with a wandering group of minstrels. We all sang and played instruments. Everything was improvised. We walked to our gigs and set up our tents on the stage the night before the gig. In the morning we would wake up and start with a lengthy, very relaxing yoga session. Then we would solemnly drink a carefully administered cup of magic herbal tea, and the concert would begin.”
Meet, Greet & Ask: Tips and Tools from Your "Let's Try It!" Board
This month we will introduce the Board, ask for feedback about proposed Mission Statement and Behavioral Covenant, and explain what we have been doing to address perennial concerns about communication. We will model some structures we use in Board meetings which we hope will become part of the sacred work in other areas of church life.
