Upcoming events at UUCSB & beyond
Share the Plate! November 2025
Each month, UUCSB chooses an organization to split weekly donations made by congregants during the course of Sunday services. As many of you attend virtually, we are providing an online venue for these donations.
When we picked the share the plate for this month, we had no idea of what was to come. Given the suspension of SNAP, we are in the process of creating a community wide response. The first thing we did was swap out the share the plate, so we can split our plate with an organization supporting feeding programs. Many have approached me to ask what we can do or offer assistance. Melissa Caminiti has stepped forward to gather information about what things are being done community wide, and helping us identify an unmet need that we can fill. We will post more in the coming week when we have more to share. We will rise to the occasion!
This is an interactive calendar. Click on a highlighted square to find out more about what’s going on on that day! Or, below, you can scroll through the list of upcoming events.

No Kings Day of Mobilization
As people of faith, we know that democracy is not about domination, it’s about covenant: how we live together, honor each other’s dignity, and shape a shared future. We also know that true safety comes not from fear and weapons, but from building communities of belonging and accountability. That’s why we must continue to press for common-sense gun reform and resist a culture that normalizes violence.
Meet at the church at 9:45 to walk with our Side with Love banner to the Saco Transportation Center or find a rally near you. (Link: https://www.nokings.org/?SQF_SOURCE=uua#map)
Claiming Our Power to Fight for a Clean Energy Future: Green Sanctuary 2030 Community Meeting (Virtual Event)
Hosted by Anastasia Marie Yarbrough-Mackie
Advocating at Public Utility Commissions is an incredibly impactful way to shape our energy future. It's also a hugely overlooked opportunity!
Public Utility Commissions (PUCs) regulate utility prices, resource planning and acquisition, reliability and quality of service regulation. If you’re not sure what that all means, you’re not alone! Advocating for fair utility regulations can be intimidating to outsiders, which benefits those who are more concerned with profit than people. PUCs wield significant power and their decisions affect clean energy and air quality, impacting both greenhouse gas mitigation and climate resilience. Learn how the UU Georgia Legislative Action Network is making good trouble for climate justice as they remind the Georgia Utility Commissioners and Elected Officials that people have the power to choose a just and moral path for our energy future.

Music: Patrick Freeman
Patrick was born in Fort Kent, Maine in 1948. He lived with foster care from the ages 3 to 18. He had some music lessons when he was young but at about the age of 9 he did not have a piano at the house so had to discontinue the lessons. Around age 20 he had private music lessons for about a year. In his late twenties he moved to Bangor and found employment selling organs, receiving free music lessons from the owner for a year. He continued to play organs and became self-taught. Patrick graduated from UMaine in 1976 with a teaching degree. After several teaching and other jobs he settled in Portland working at Maine Medical Center for 16 years. He continued playing the organ and keyboard during those times. He retired from MMC in 2013 and started playing music in Nursing Homes throughout Southern Maine. He usually plays music from way back in early 1900 to the present day. He has started a music recording studio in his apartment which continues to be a learning process. Patrick says “I enjoy playing music. I have been playing music by ear for many years. I guess that is a God gift.”
For our Sunday security, we lock the doors at 10:05. Ushers will monitor the doors until 10:15.
