Ministry of Faith in Action

Advocating for justice for all people and the earth

The Ministry of Faith in Action (MoFA) leads the congregation in practicing our Unitarian Universalist principles and values in our church, homes and community, and advocating for justice for all people and the Earth. We encourage everyone to “be the change” we need.

MoFA is currently working to elevate UUCSB to a Green Sanctuary Congregation through the UUA initiative Green Sanctuary 2030, an ambitious environmental and climate justice movement that seeks to live fully our principles and achieve our vision of a sustainable and just world for all.

Through the GS2030 framework we are exploring our community’s climate—ecologically, environmentally, culturally, socially, and spiritually. Our goal is to deepen our understanding of how we influence our surroundings and to foster more just, loving, and sustainable ways of acting as stewards of the gifts we've been given. This exploration extends beyond the natural environment to encompass how we embody simple, principled values in our relationships and community life. In doing so, we aim to become caregivers and role models for living simply and sustainably in the world.

MoFA also regulary organizes folks to get Out the Vote & stand together for what We believe in.

MoFA supports and is supported by the following groups. If you are looking for ways to “be the change” beyond UUCSB, these groups, some operating under the larger UU umbrella, others national or local Justice organizations are a great place to start.

[I]t is Love that moves through and between us, enabling us to nurture wisdom, guidance, courage, and grounding in ourselves and in one another… Together we can build a future where love and justice reign.
