Mediation Ministry
formerly known as the Committee on Ministries
Whenever human beings interact, disagreements and conflicts can arise. Most of the time these situations can be resolved with conversation between the parties involved.
When the parties involved have not been able to resolve the conflict, the Mediation Ministry can offer help by bringing the parties together in a mediated and confidential setting.
Before contact the Mediation Ministry, we ask that you follow the conflict resolution pathway below.
UUCSB Conflict Resolution Pathway
Begin with Internal Reflection. Ask yourself:
Why am I upset?
What is my role in the situation?
Are outside factors influencing either party?
How might this be resolved without escalation?
If, after reflection, you feel further action is required, choose your next most appropriate step.
If it feels safe to do so: Start by Communicating
Meet face-to-face with the individual or group
Share your concerns calmly and respectfully
Listen openly, recognizing there may be some defensiveness
If the issue remains unresolved or you simply feel unsafe communicating with the individual or group on your own, Seek Support:
Document and e-sign your concern via the online portal below or in the UUCSB Office
Or, Contact a member of the Mediation Ministry directly
If, after careful reflection, you’d like to alert the mediation team of a situation you may send Rev. Niki a request through this form. Please note that anonymous concerns cannot be addressed. All shared information will be treated with the appropriate confidentiality.
You may also speak to any member of the team in person or via their emails found in the UUCSB .
