Message from Rev. Lori
Are We Listening People?
In a world where everyone seems to be speaking, listening can be a spiritual practice.
Hearing is easy; listening takes intention. It asks us to pause, to quiet our own voices, and to make room for someone else’s truth. Our Unitarian Universalist tradition invites us into that deeper listening—to one another, to the wisdom of many traditions, and to the quiet voice within.
The Quakers, who have informed us this winter, remind us that truth can rise out of silence when we wait and listen together.
So the question for us today is simple but profound: In all the noise of our lives and our world—are we truly listening?
I ask this question of us this week to prepare you for Rev. Niki’s wise words coming up on Sunday. I also invite you to spend the next two days listening more than talking. Use the “take a breath” practice to hesitate before jumping in with an opinion or verbal offering. Use your voice to ask a reflective question of the person you are with. Listen for the undercurrents of what they are sharing. See them, listen to them, REALLY hear them. There is truly nothing more kind than to truly see or hear someone. That is a great gift to people! This practice also allows you to process a little deeper what is happening and spoken about in the world around you. So just for these next two days, I invite you into the practice of speaking less, listening deeper and offering a reflective and deepening presence to those around you. This may change someone’s world!
Peace and Blessings

Unitarian Universalist Church of Saco Biddeford
We’ve discovered that our beloved church organ is in need of vital repair which was not factored into the budget. This amazing instrument is part of the beating heart of our small but mighty church and we want to keep it going strong for years to come. Please help in any way you can. For online donations and the added benefit of a tax-deductible receipt, please follow this link.

Tour of Archives and Introduction of Latest Acquisition
Join Anne D. and Lori C. in the church Archives during Coffee Hour to see our newest acquisition, a book about Sophie and other church dogs. Enjoy other treasures like the back of Jesus, an 1880s history of the area, early minutes from both churches, photos of our past, the great stolen and recovered picture and other items of interest.
We are on the second floor. If you are unable to join us there; Lori C. is available to bring most items to you.
These UUCSB meetings, community events, and important deadlines are just around the corner.

Ongoing activities
Share the Plate: March
Each month, UUCSB chooses an organization to split weekly donations made by congregants during the course of Sunday services. As many of you attend virtually, we are providing an online venue for these donations.
This month, we ask for donations to be split between UUCSB’s general operating fund & Age Friendly Saco. From their website:
Age Friendly Saco’s mission, “A Community for a Lifetime”, is to promote active aging by optimizing opportunities for health, engagement, and safety while removing barriers that prevent our citizens from remaining in their homes as they age. This will be accomplished through engagement with community organizations as well as collaboration with the City of Saco and the recruitment of community volunteers for the delivery of services that will empower residents to remain in and engaged in their community as they age.
School Street Coffeehouse Fundraiser
School Street Coffeehouse is pleased to offer special edition stickers, donated by Thomas Clukey, as part of a $1 fundraiser.
Stickers will be available at Coffeehouse events, open mikes, and during Social Hour on Sundays. For those of you at a distance, stickers can be obtained by mail with a $1 donation and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Every sticker purchased will support and give visability to the Coffeehouse, helping sustain this brand new tradition at UUCSB.
Please note: Each Friday, the current Friday Flyer posts at 9 AM and the previous week’s Flyer is archived. Rev. Lori’s weekly messages remain online in the form of reflections. You can find the archive here.
